About me

I am Kimberley and I am in my final year of my studies with Otago Polytechnic in a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (OT).

I am married with two young children and attempt to juggle my family, working and student life in order to gain my qualification in OT and use my skills to enable, advocate and collaborate with people in order to assist with independence and quality of life.

“The power of play across the spectrum” combines my passion for paediatrics and gaining extended knowledge on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  The thought that play time from both a mothers view and an Occupational Therapists view, can be effectively used as therapy intrigues me.

My aim of this Blog is to gain knowledge and compile research in order to ascertain the effectiveness of play as therapy in children with ASD and share this with the hope that I may assist my colleges and add to the Occupational Therapy body of knowledge.
